Cortijo La Zapatera is located in the unspoilt countryside near the white village of Canillas de Aceitunio, in the south of Spain in Andalusia. In this authentic region, La Axarquia, you can enjoy nature, sun, sea, culture and the typical Spanish cuisine. There are plenty of walking, sports and recreational opportunities to explore. Cortijo La Zapatera is the perfect starting point to explore and discover beautiful Andalusia. We are located between Málaga, Antequera, Granada and the Sierra Nevada in the Axarquía region, just 20 minutes from the sea. You can enjoy the beautiful cities of Málaga, Antequera and Granada. There are beautiful walks in the nearby located park Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama or in the beautiful park of “El Torcal”. Enjoy the lovely white villages in the area as for example Canillas de Aceituno, Frigiliana, Competa, Comares, Alcaucin and Nerja. During the wintermonths the ski area of Sierra Neveda can be reached within 2 hours.
On October 26, the new suspension bridge of the El Saltillo walk was opened. The bridge has a length of 54 meters and is suspended at a height of approximately 50 meters. It is one of the largest suspension bridges in Spain. This beautiful walk starts in our village, Canillas de Aceituno, and is part of the 'Gran Senda de Málaga'. This stage (GR-249) of 'the long walk from Malaga' connects Canillas de Aceituno with Sedella.
